— Garret Covington drilled a 3-pointer off an assist from Jabari Sandifer with 12 seconds left to lift Western Illinois to a 63-59 win over IUPUI Friday night.

Leo Svete missed a 3-point attempt that would have given IUPUI the lead with 5 seconds left and Western Illinois' Mohamed Conde grabbed the rebound, his 14th of the game and eighth off the defensive glass. IUPUI immediately sent Conde to the line, where he converted both free throws to create the final margin.

Western Illinois (7-11, 2-5 Summit) held a 28-27 lead at the half and the game remained close throughout.

J.C. Fuller had 20 points to lead the Leathernecks, with Jamie Batish adding another 11. Western Illinois shot 44.1 percent from the field (26-of-59) and 8-of-23 from beyond the arc.

Khufu Najee had 12 points and Svete added 11 for the Jaguars (8-13, 4-3). IUPUI shot 45.3 percent (24-of-53) and was 3-of-9 from distance.
