Keystone XL pipeline threatens environment

The Keystone XL pipeline is a threat to our national security. The carcinogen benzene is usually used to dilute the tar sands enough that it can flow. The completed southern leg of the pipeline was supposed to leak only once in seven years, but leaked 12 times the first year. There won’t be enough bottled water to save us if the Ogallala Aquifer, which this pipeline would sit on top of, is contaminated. Not only do the pipelines leak, but past spills are still not cleaned up, years later.
