A man died in a single-car accident Friday on the city's Northwestside, police confirm.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers and emergency medical crews were dispatched at 5:45 p.m. to West 48th Street and Kessler Boulevard on a report of a car accident.

When responding units arrived, they found an adult male who'd been ejected from his vehicle. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene.

Police said the vehicle may have flipped and then ejected him, but there was nothing apparent at the scene, like a tree, that the man may have struck.

IMPD officer Rafael Diaz said early investigation has revealed that speeding may have contributed to the crash.
