The owners of an Omaha-based home health care company for the elderly have opened a mail-order pharmacy in Indianapolis.

Simple Meds mails prescription drugs, over-the-counter products and vitamins to people across the country. The startup employs five people and plans to hire as many as 46 in the next five years, said Reed Richardson, vice president of customer experience and sales.

Opened last week, the pharmacy occupies 5,500 square feet at 6862 Hillsdale Court in Hillsdale Business Park on the Northeastside. Richardson said two pharmacists, including vice president of pharmacy Kyle Decker, were among the initial hires.

Simple Meds specializes in providing 30-day supplies of medications that are mailed monthly and wrapped for ease of use by patients, Richardson said. The company ships by FedEx or U.S. Postal Service.

The company accepts all standard insurances and “we do have competitive prices compared to the marketplace,” he said. “We believe there’s a very high demand for this type of pharmacy.”

Simple Meds is owned by the Hogan family that owns Omaha-based Home Instead Senior Care, Richardson said.

The owners invested $900,000 into Simple Meds, according to a tax abatement request filed with the city. It requested a tax break from the city of $20,101 over three years.
