IndyStar to host Carmel mayoral debate

Star staff

The Indianapolis Star will host a Carmel mayoral debate on April 1, less than five weeks before a Republican primary featuring the only two candidates in the race.

The 75-minute debate will be at 7 p.m. at the Carmel Clay Public Library, 55 Fourth Ave. SE. It is open to the public and seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis beginning at 6:30.

Star columnist Matthew Tully and Opinions Editor Tim Swarens will moderate the event. Mayor Jim Brainard, who is in his fifth term, and City Council President Rick Sharp, who is concluding his third council term, have agreed to participate.
