MUNCIE – A 16-year-old Yorktown boy was charged Friday with attempted murder in the Jan. 8 stabbing of a Wes-Del High School student.

Troy Olen Fogle on Friday was taken to the Delaware County jail, where he was being held under a $50,000 bond.

According to a probable cause affidavit, when interviewed by Yorktown Police Chief Todd St. John the night of the attack, Fogle admitted he stabbed the 18-year-old Wes-Del student in the head "for the purpose of killing him."

Fogle also said he had been planning to kill his mother and abduct his former girlfriend, St. John reported.

The police chief "noted that Troy did not seem upset during the interview, nor did he show any remorse," the affidavit said.

Attempted murder is a Level 1 felony carrying a maximum 50-year prison term. An initial hearing in the case is set for Monday afternoon in Delaware Circuit Court 5.

The stabbing took place outside Fogle's South Buckingham Road home, and in the car of the alleged victim.

According to court documents, a 16-year-old Delta High School student told St. John she had until recently been "boyfriend and girlfriend" with Fogle, and agreed to "meet with Troy so they could talk."

The girl said she asked the Wes-Del student to take her to meet with Fogle. They picked the Yorktown teen up at his home, and drove to the McDonald's restaurant at 1400 S. Nebo Road.

The Wes-Del student went into the restaurant to allow Fogle and the girl to speak privately. "After several minutes," the older teen returned to his car, and drove back to Fogle's home, the affidavit said.

Once there, the girl told police, she "observed Troy take a knife from the seat and stab (the Wes-Del student) in the head."

The stabbing victim, interviewed after his Jan. 11 release from I.U. Health Ball Memorial Hospital, told St. John that he at first believed Fogle had simply punched him in the head. He said he prevented his attacker from inflicting a second stab wound by grabbing his arm.

Fogle went into his family's house after inflicting the stab wound, authorities said. His father was present when he was later interviewed by St. John.

Fogle said the knife he used had been a Christmas gift for his brother. He acknowledged the older teen had not threatened him, but told St. John he believed the Wes-Del student was "being cocky," the report said.

Delaware County Prosecutor Jeffrey Arnold said last week he would charge Fogle — not identified by name until the formal charge was filed Friday — as an adult. He had been held in the Delaware County Juvenile Detention Center in the immediate wake of the stabbing.
