Egg-stra, egg-stra: Easter egg hunts abound

Indianapolis loves Easter.

Don't believe me? Then you've never tried to compile a list of metropolitan area Easter egg hunts.

Well, you don't have to, (and you're welcome). Here's a list of some of the area's best and biggest Easter egg hunts. Remember to bring your own basket and camera.

Indianapolis

Community Easter Egg Hunt: 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. March 28, Butler University, 4600 Sunset Ave., free.

Candy, prizes and family fun on Butler's campus.

Presidential Egg Roll: 8:30-10:30 a.m. April 4, Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site, 1230 N. Delaware St., $17.95 adult, $15.96 child, bhpsite.org.

Have breakfast, meet the Easter Bunny, then roll eggs across the lawn during the first annual Presidential Egg Roll. There will be crafts, games and an egg hunt.

Indianapolis Motor Speedway Easter Egg Hunt: 8:30 a.m.-noon April 4, Indianapolis Motor Speedway, 4790 W. 16th St. (enter through Gate 2), $25 Kid's Club membership required, indianapolismotorspeedway.com.

Breakfast with the Easter Bunny followed by the fastest Easter egg hunt on the historic IMS Infield. Last year, drivers Ed Carpenter and Pippa Mann greeted fans along with 500 princesses and other celebrities.

North

Pancakes and egg hunt in Noblesville: 8 a.m.-noon March 28, Forest Park, 701 Cicero Road, Noblesville, breakfast, $5, starts at 8 a.m., free festivities start at 10 a.m.,cityofnoblesville.org/parks.

Noblesville's huge Easter celebration includes an egg hunt, DJ, bounce house and more. Sponsored by Noblesville Parks and Hare Chevrolet (get it? "Hare" Chevrolet).

Spring Fever in Carmel's West Park: 11 a.m.-1p.m. March 28, West Park, 2700 W. 116th St., Carmel, $8 children, free for adults, pre-register and save $3,carmelclayparks.com.

Celebrate spring with kite-flying, crafts, music and an Easter egg hunt at Carmel's West Park.

Easter Bunny and Egg Hunt at Carmel City Center: 1-2:15 p.m. March 28, Range Line Road and City Center Drive, Carmel, free,carmelcitycenter.com.

Meet the Easter Bunny, see an antique fire engine then hunt for eggs filled with treats and special offers from retailers.

Easter on the Prairie: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 4, Egg-Stravaganza begins at 2 p.m., staggered times for different age groups, Conner Prairie, 13400 Allisonville Road, Fishers, free with general admission: $16 adults, $15 seniors, $11 for ages 2-12, free for members and youth under 2,connerprairie.org.

Make a basket, decorate a bonnet and dye Easter eggs like it's 1836 at Conner Prairie's annual Easter celebration. Egg hunts start at 2 p.m. Best bet: See what happens when you fire a marshmallow Peep through a potato cannon.

Celebrate Easter with games, activities, treats, crafts and prizes at the Greenwood Park Mall.

Baxter YMCA Easter Egg Hunt: 9 a.m.-noon April 4, Baxter YMCA, 7900 E. Shelby St., free for YMCA members,indymca.org/centers/baxter.

You need to be a Baxter YMCA member for this one. Crafts, games, meet the Easter Bunny and hunt for eggs, rain or shine.

West

Baskets full of Easter eggs mean smiles all around.

Brownsburg Park's Easter Egg Hunt: 9:30 a.m.-noon March 28, Arbuckle Acres Park, 200 N. Green St., Brownsburg, free,brownsburg.org/parks.

Easter Egg Hunt at Danville's Ellis Park: 1:30 p.m. April 4, Ellis Park, 600 E. Main St., Danville, free,danvilleindiana.org.

This is the 60th year that the Kiwanis Club of Danville has organized this Easter egg hunt for area kids. Snap a picture with the Easter Bunny before the hunt begins at 2 p.m. Stick around for a rubber duck race.

Plainfield Community Easter Egg Hunt: 10-11 a.m. April 4, Hummel Park, 1500 S. Center St., Plainfield, free,hummelpark.net.

Give-aways, prizes, Easter eggs and a bounce house.

Helicopter Egg Drops: 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. April 4, Westside Church of the Nazarene, 8610 W. 10th St., Indianapolis, free, (317) 271-7607,wsnaz.org.

Westside Church's helicopter will drop 50,000 eggs during this huge block party which begins at 9:30 a.m. The helicopter drops eggs at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. It costs $1 for an all-day pass to play in the inflatables.

East

Benton House Easter Egg Hunt in Irvington: 10 a.m. April 4, 312 S. Downey Ave., Indianapolis, free, (317) 357-0318,thebentonhouse.org.

Take pictures with the Easter Bunny, color eggs and join the hunt on the lawn of the historic Benton House.
