Pedestrian struck and killed in Eastside crash

Police have identifed a pedestrian struck and killed a early Thursday morning on the Eastside, police said.

Bruce Wigell, 32, of Indianapolis died around 5:36 a.m. in the intersection of Brookville Road and South Kitley Avenue, police said.

A witness told police the Wigell, wearing a hoodie and earbuds, crossed Kitley Avenue while drivers on Brookville had a green light, IMPD Lt. Richard Riddle said.

The driver of a car in one lane saw the Wigell and stopped, police said, but the driver of a pickup truck in the second lane struck him.

The driver remained on scene after the crash and is cooperating with the investigation, Riddle said.
