Former Warren Central ROTC instructor accused of having sex with student

A former Warren Central High School ROTC instructor and gym teacher is facing a slew of child seduction charges after he allegedly had sex with one of his students, according to court documents.

The investigation began in June, after a recently graduated Warren student had reported to high school staff that she had been involved in a sexual relationship with the instructor, Troy Rush. Allegations were also made by another recently graduated student, which, a probable cause affidavit states, led Warren officials to put Rush on administrative leave while police investigated the incidences.

Rush, 42, later resigned from his position at the school. He's been charged with 11 counts of child seduction.

During Thanksgiving weekend of her junior year at Warren, a 16-year-old student said she began sending sexual text messages to Rush. The two would talk about "trying stuff" with one another, court documents state, and when she turned 17 later that month, her and Rush started having sex.

They often met for sex in the ROTC supply room, as well as the armory, wrestling room, Rush's office and once in the student's mother's apartment, documents state. Naked photos and sexual text messages were also traded during the time they were together.

The two continued their relationship until the girl's last day of school at Warren in May 2015. According to documents, the student later found out her friend was also in a relationship with Rush, but that she'd never had sex with him.

Warren officials said in a statement to Fox59 that "to protect the ongoing legal process, and out of respect for the privacy of any victims of Mr. Rush's actions, Warren will refrain from any further public comments. Warren will continue its cooperation with authorities as they pursue their charges."
