Listen up craft beer fans! Here are three things you should know this week.

1. Blind Owl Brewery to open week of July 13

Blind Owl Brewery Kitchen & Bar opens July 13 at 5014 E. 62nd St.

I got a peek at this place in late May. You can't miss the 10,000-square-foot brewery and restaurant, which anchors the corner of 62nd St. and Binford Blvd. Blind Owl Brewery, 5014 E. 62nd St., is part of Lux Restaurant group who also owns Binkley's, Broad Ripple Tavern, Elbow Room and others. Head brewer Alex Petersen, formerly of Thr3e Wise Men and a Butler graduate, will make five house beers: an IPA, a honey brown, a Marzen, a pilsner and an American Wheat. Fun fact: The honey brown beer will be made using honey sourced from bee colonies in the brewery's back yard. Learn more about Blind Owl Brewery, plus photos, in the coming weeks at IndyStar.com.

2. A home brew shop to serve the Southside

Final Gravity Homebrew Supply is opening on the southside, 3131 E. Thompson Rd.

Thompson Road. for month-long soft launch. A grand opening is scheduled for Aug. 12. The store will sell home brewing supplies. Wednesday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

3. Indiana State Fair Brewers' Cup opens to the public

The massive home brew and brewery competition is in its 17th year. But new this year, the Brewers of Indiana Guild has partnered with the State Fair to add a two-hour tasting and dinner reception, making it open to the public for the first time. The event starts at 5 p.m. July 11. Tickets cost $40 each.
