Indiana ranked fourth worst in environmental quality

Yet another organization has ranked Indiana poorly for its environmental quality, in spite of state environmental officials’ insistence that its pollution levels are improving.

The personal finance website WalletHub on Monday released its report on 2015’s Most & Least Eco-Friendly States. Indiana was ranked the fourth worst.

Vermont was No. 1. Louisiana was ranked the worst.

Here’s how WalletHub ranked Indiana’s eco-friendliness in its methodology.

• 48th – Air quality

30th – Water quality

39th – Percentage of municipal solid waste recycled

31st – Number of green (LEED) buildings per capita

38th – Percentage of energy consumption from renewable sources

39th – Energy efficiency scorecard

28th – Gasoline consumption per capita

44th – Percentage of the population not driving to work
