A woman whose body was found decaying in an Eastside apartment, covered with baking soda and lime, was strangled to death, according to the Marion County Coroner’s Office.

The coroner’s office identified the woman as 26-year-old Jessica Frazer.

An autopsy determined the death was a homicide due to manual strangulation, the office said.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police detectives began investigating Frazer’s death Wednesday when a tip from a neighbor brought officers to an apartment complex in the 5800 block of Bolton Court.

They found Frazer’s body in a closet, placed there among trash bags full of clothing. Baking soda and calcium hydroxide, or lime, was strewn on her body.

Police said the substances were likely put there to mask the smell as the body decayed.

An IMPD spokesman said police have no updates on the status of the investigation into the woman’s death.
