The ballot box looked the same last year, but the results were different in Fishers where four candidates battled for two City Council seats.

After 20 years on the council, incumbent Stuart Easley lost his seat Tuesday in tight race against Brad DeReamer, a former Greenfield mayor.

DeReamer received 56 percent of the vote with all precincts reporting in the Northeast district.

"I appreciate what Mr. Easley has done for the city of Fishers for the past 20 years," DeReamer said. "I am looking forward to working with him the rest of the year to learn from his experience."

Last year, Easley won the race by 25 votes.

A greater number of votes separated candidates in the Northwest district where councilwoman Selina Stoller held off former city councilman Mike Colby.

Stoller won 61 percent of the vote.

"My first thank you goes out to the voters of Fishers and the Northwest district," Stoller said. "I feel honored to be elected to serve a full four-year term."

This year's race felt like déjà vu for Fishers.

That's because Fishers had an election in 2014 — as the town transitioned to a city. State law required the city to hold an election again this year.

The two council races were even closer in 2014. Stoller won by 12 votes last year. She wants to focus on public safety, maintaining infrastructure and quality schools.

DeReamer wants to see "a resident-inspired vision for the city of Fishers, a development plan to guide decisions to achieve that vision and the economic base to support the vision and plan."
