Caleb Swanigan helps Team USA stay unbeaten

Star report

Purdue men's basketball incoming freshman Caleb Swanigan posted 13 points and six rebounds to lead Team USA to a 92-50 victory over Egypt at the FIBA U19 World Championships in Heraklion, Crete, Greece.

Team USA claimed the No. 1 seed from Group A with a 3-0 pool play record. It faces Argentina, which went 0-3 in pool play, at 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday.

Swanigan made 5 of 6 field goals and also had two assists and a block in his 17 minutes.

"I felt like we kept rallying, playing hard and things like that, and even though they're not that good of a team, you've got to challenge yourself to step up and keep playing hard," Swanigan said in a Team USA report. "It's always about us getting better for the next game because if we face Croatia again, or we face another team, they're going to be better so we have to be better in order to win."

Swanigan averaged 8 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in pool play.
