Peanut butter and jelly. Mashed potatoes and gravy. Chips and salsa. Some things are meant for each other.

Cue the Bacon and Beer Classic.

The festival celebrating the crispy strips (sorry piggies) and out-of-the-ordinary brews is heading to Indianapolis' Victory Field this summer for the first time.

Tickets are on sale for two sessions, brunch or dinner. Each includes bacon-inspired bites, craft brews, souvenir glasses and educational sessions. Several local eateries and breweries are on the list to bring the goods.

IndyStar food and dining reporter Liz Biro and beverage reporter Amy Haneline will be on the judging panel. They'll give awards for best use of bacon and weirdest twist on a craft beer.

The festival is a national touring event put on by Cannonball Productions. Founder Kate Levenstien rattled off a long list of reasons for bringing the event to Indianapolis, including the large and beautiful minor league baseball field and Downtown's growing restaurant and craft beer scene.

If you go: Bacon and Beer Classic, 1 to 4 p.m. or 7 to 10 p.m. July 11, Victory Field, 501 Maryland St., $49 general admission, $89 VIP with one hour early entry, $29 designated driver. Tickets available at baconandbeerclassic.com.
