Westfield hires new girls basketball coach

Westfield has hired Ginny Smith as its new girls basketball coach.

Smith served as an assistant coach at Westfield from 2008-13 and is a teacher at the school. She was the 1997 Miss Basketball in Arkansas and played in college at Arkansas Tech.

Smith replaces Shane Sumpter, who was hired as the boys coach at Westfield. The Shamrocks were 16-7 last season and won sectional titles in 2010 and '13.

Westfield also hired Cary Pruett as its girls soccer coach. Pruett, an assistant at Westfield the past four seasons, is a Crawfordsville native and played at Wabash.
