Martinsville man, 22, killed in apparent motorbike crash

A 22-year-old Martinsville man was killed Saturday night when he apparently crashed his dirt bike into a tree in Morgan County.

Colton Wright was found next to his Yamaha 450 at 4110 Ballinger Road near the western county line at 8 p.m.

Indiana Department of Natural Resources Cpl. Angela Goldman said Wright, who was not wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at IU Health Morgan hospital in Martinsville.

Wright had been at a friend's house about a half-mile away and said he was going for a ride. A few minutes later, a neighbor heard a dirt bike pass, and 10 minutes after that, a passer-by who found Wright knocked on the neighbor's door and told her to call 911, Goldman said.

Police do not know whether alcohol was involved.

The DNR and the Morgan County Sheriff's Office are investigating.
