Reports: Former Colt LaRon Landry suspended 10 games for PED violation
The NFL has suspended former Indianapolis Colts safety LaRon Landry for 10 games due to a violation of the league's performance-enhancing drug policy, according to multiple media reports.
A second offense is an automatic 10-game suspension. He was suspended four games in September. A third offense is a minimum two-year ban.
This makes it unlikely Landry, a free agent, will be signed in the near future.
The Colts cut Landry on Feb. 11 in a move that saved $2.25 million in salary cap space. He played better after his suspension but never appeared all-in since arriving in Indianapolis with a four-year, $24 million deal in 2013. He came to the Colts with a reputation for being strong against the run but was routinely burned downfield in pass coverage.
Landry, a first-round draft pick of the Washington Redskins, played 23 games with the Colts in his two seasons, making 144 tackles.
