A Greenwood man was shot early Thursday after being confronted by two masked men outside of his home.

About 2:30 a.m. Thursday, officers from the Greenwood Police Department were called to the Polo Run Apartment complex in the 990 block of Coventry Court on a report of a person shot.

Upon arrival, police located a 41-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the abdomen, police said. He was rushed to Methodist Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The victim told investigators that he and his roommate were returning home when two men in masks approached them, police said. One of the men was armed with a handgun.

The masked men forced their way into the apartment and begin struggling with the victim who was shot during the exchange, police said. The suspects then ran from the apartment in an unknown direction.

Police believe the masked men were attempting to rob the victim and his roommate. The incident is not believed to be a random act.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Greenwood Police Department at (317) 882-9191.
