A Perry Meridian High School student accused of threatening her assistant principal with a knife was arrested Friday morning.

An 18-year-old senior entered the office of Assistant Principal Kyle Scaringe early Tuesday armed with a knife, according to a news release from Perry Township Schools.

The female student then began wielding the knife in a threatening manner, officials said. Scaringe quickly restrained the student and held her until help arrived. He was not injured.

Officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were called to the school and took the student into custody, officials said. The student has been expelled and will not be permitted to return to the high school.

“The individual will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” said a written statement from Perry Township Schools. “Incidents such as these will not be tolerated in any Perry Township School.

“Now and always, the safety of students and staff is our top priority.”
