Detectives are investigating shootings on the Near Northside that left one man dead and another wounded early Wednesday morning, police said.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Lt. Richard Riddle said police were called to the 1200 block of West 29th Street and found a man suffering from gunshot wounds just before 3:30 a.m.

That man was taken to Eskenazi Hospital where he later died, Riddle said.

Minutes later and about a block north, officers found another injured man in the 1200 block of Eugene Avenue, police said.

That man is in the hospital in serious condition, Riddle said.

Detectives believe both men were shot in the area of West 29th Street.

“We know they are related,” Riddle said. “We are just trying to figure out how.”

The slaying is the second shooting death in 24 hours in the city.

A man was found shot to death in an Eastside residence just after 6 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Detectives are investigating the death of Harold Mullen, 57, found in a home in the 1300 block of North Ewing with a gunshot wound to his neck, police said.
