Multiple fire crews battled a hazmat incident on the Westside near the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Thursday night.

Smoke filled the neighborhood adjacent to the Leed Thermal Processing plant that caught fire in the 1700 block of North Luett Avenue, just blocks away from the IMS.

Fifteen fire crews from the Indianapolis Fire Department, Speedway Fire Department and the Wayne Township Fire Department battled the blaze, a tweet from the IFD's Twitter account reported.

An Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officer advised an Indianapolis Star reporter to leave the area.

"This stuff is poisonous," he said.

It's unclear at this point what exactly caught fire in the plant, but it took crews nearly two hours to mark the incident under control.

No injuries have been reported.
