A couple accused of molesting four children is facing a total of 38 felony charges after police say the two sexually and physically abused their young victims.

David McQuaid and Christina Vargas were arrested July 27 at a residence in Noblesville following a joint investigation that was launched after a concerned citizen contacted authorities regarding the well-being of the children, police said.

The victims in the case are three girls, ages 8, 11, and 13, and a 16-year-old boy. Police said the girls were sexually abused and the boy physically abused by McQuaid and Vargas.

Lebanon police were initially handling the investigation, but Whitestown police and Indiana Department of Family and Children Services officials soon became involved in the probe when it was learned that the alleged crimes took place in various locations in Boone County in 2014 and 2015.

Both McQuaid and Vargas are being held in the Boone County Jail on a $100,000 bond each, police said. The children have been placed in safe environments.

Vargas faces 6 felony charges and McQuaid faces 32 felonies and 1 misdemeanor charge.

The investigation is ongoing.
