2 llamas lassoed after high-speed chase in Arizona

Two llamas led a chase through a neighborhood in Sun City, Ariz., Thursday, Feb. 26, 2015.

Two llamas, one white, the other black, spent part of the day running around a neighborhood in the northwest Valley of Arizona Thursday.

A spokesman for the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office credits citizens with wrangling the spooked animals.

According to the sheriff's office, the llamas were taken by a rancher to be used as therapy animals at a care center for the elderly in the area. Three llamas total were transported and somehow got spooked. One ran back into the trailer and the other two bolted.

They led members of the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office on a lively chase through Sun City, Ariz., before being lassoed by helpful citizens.

The llamas had been running through backyards.

After lots of close calls, the pair were captured without incident. By 1:40 p.m. local time, both had been loaded safely into a trailer.
