A fire in a Northeastside apartment complex caused $50,000 of damage late Saturday.

Flames were shooting through the roof when the Indianapolis Fire Department arrived around 7 p.m., but they had the fire under control in about 20 minutes, according to a news release. The fire was contained to two apartments in a 400-unit, 25-building complex at 7527 Rimwood Lane.

No one was at home at the time of the fire in the two units, the news release said. No civilian injuries were reported, although one firefighter was treated with an ankle injury.

Firefighters did use a ladder to rescue a toddler who yelled down to them from a neighboring apartment. She was checked and released to her mother, who exited the apartment through a stairwell.

Neighboring apartments had minor smoke damage, the news release said.
