ORIGINAL STORY POSTED MAY 4, 2015:

A motorcyclist was shot and killed by another driver Sunday evening on the Eastside after road rage led to a confrontation in a parking lot, police said.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police officer Chris Wilburn said a man driving a motorcycle encountered someone driving an SUV, leading to a violent episode of road rage.

The two drivers pulled off the road into a parking lot in the 500 block of North Rural Street, Wilburn said.

Detectives believe the driver of the SUV shot the motorcyclist, Wilburn said. The man, identified as Nicholas K. Norris, died later at Eskenazi Hospital.

Police are still searching for the driver of the SUV, Wilburn said.

Details of the events that led to the shooting were not available.
