A multi-vehicle crash has temporarily closed northbound Interstate 65 near mile marker 140.

Update: Northbound Interstate 65 and westbound Interstate 74 are now open.

Hazardous driving conditions have resulted in crashes and road closings throughout Central Indiana.

Northbound Interstate 65 was closed for about five hours Sunday from mile marker 138 to mile marker 140, the exit to Ind. 32 in Lebanon, according to Indiana State Police. About 40 vehicles were involved in multiple crashes around 1:30 p.m. in that area. People reported several injuries, but police said none are believed to be life-threatening.

There also are multiple crashes causing delays on Interstate 65 south of Franklin.

All westbound lanes of Interstate 74 near mile marker 132, at the U.S. 421 exit, were closed for about four hours Sunday, according to the Indiana Department of Transportation. Initial information from State Police indicates troopers responded to five different crashes involving 30 to 40 vehicles. No life-threatening injuries were reported.

And a crash has slowed traffic on eastbound Interstate 70, near exit 79 toward West Street.

"The roadways throughout Central Indiana are snow covered and hazardous," state police said in a news release. "Only travel if necessary, reduce your speed significantly and allow ample space between you and the vehicle in front of you."
