At least seven reported robberies or attempted robberies at Indianapolis-area pharmacies in the past 24 hours involved suspects who were 18 or younger, according to police reports.

In a robbery attempt at a Northeastside Walgreens, a 12-year-old boy* was arrested.

The incident was reported about 4 p.m. Tuesday when the boy walked into the Walgreens at 5199 N. Keystone Ave. An Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department report states that officers were notified of the robbery in progress, responded quickly and took the boy into custody.

No one was injured during the robbery attempt, and the boy was taken to the juvenile intake center. The police report lists the weapon used in the incident as a handgun, but officials said that no weapon was displayed or recovered.**

In another case, reported about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, a 16-year-old carrying an unknown firearm robbed the Walgreens at 3545 W. 86th St., on the Northwestside, according to a police report.

In a third case, police were called about 10 p.m. Tuesday to the CVS at 7240 E. 82nd St., on the Northeastside, after a boy thought to be a 16-year-old entered the store and passed a note, stating that he was robbing the store, to a pharmacy technician. A police report said the teen then left without taking anything.

The latest incident occurred about 10:15 a.m. Wednesday when an armed 18-year-old attempted to rob the same Northeastside Walgreens targeted Tuesday by the 11-year-old. An IMPD report says the teen failed to rob the store.

Similar incidents were reported Tuesday in Lawrence and Beech Grove.

Officials said Wednesday it does not appear that all of the incidents are connected. The robberies remain under investigation.
