A man suspected of stabbing his wife and running down six people in an SUV during rush hour Wednesday morning died in police custody.

Michael Morris Jr., 41, was found unresponsive in a cell in the Marion County Lock Up, in the basement of the City-County Building, about 9:30 p.m. Thursday, according to a news release from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

No foul play is suspected, officials said. A follow-up investigation is being conducted by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office and the Marion County Coroner’s Office.

Morris was being held on suspicion of multiple felonies related to the Wednesday morning spree that injured seven people.

Police said Morris stabbed his wife at a Far-Eastside residence and stole her car.

He is accused of driving through Downtown and striking six people at five busy locations as people walked to work.
