Welcome to the neighborhood where everyone knows your name.

Inglenook is a 27-home neighborhood in Carmel that was designed by architect Ross Chapin. Unlike traditional suburban neighborhoods where houses face the street, the homes of Inglenook face community green spaces. Garages are accessed through alleys behind the homes.

The homes in this "pocket neighborhood" are based on eight designs, such as the two-bedroom "Betty Sue" cottage and the three- or four-bedroom Plumrose.

The cottage-style homes are intimate and cut formal space such as dining and living rooms.

"We want everybody to have a sense of identity for their own home," Inglenook sales manager Amanda Spicer said. "We want each of them to be unique."

Spicer said the pocket neighborhood trend has made its way to Indiana from the West Coast.

The Iris Cottage of Inglenook at 2227 Moon Shadow Lane is the neighborhood's last remaining home for sale. The three-bedroom, two-and-a-half bath home was built in 2014 and is listed for $345,452.

Chapin's design created a wealth of natural light from large windows on both sides of the home. The large front porches are welcoming, though large flower boxes allow a small level of privacy.

The Iris Cottage has wood and carpet flooring. The master bedroom and bath is on the main level. The other bedrooms with walk-in closets and a tiled bathroom are on the second floor. There's a finished basement and a two-car garage.

Megan Leahy, marketing director, said the neighborhood is designed to foster relationships. Leahy said the green space opens the neighborhood to a point where "potluck dinners happen just spontaneously."

"It's not just neighbors on a street," Leahy said. "It's everyone knows everyone's name. Everyone knows everyone's dog's name."
