Is retro in? Top Hoosier baby names of 2014

No, Blanche didn't make the list of popular Hoosier baby names, but throwback names like Sophia, Ruby and Hazel did.

Retro names made comeback in Indiana last year, according to a list of the state's top 100 baby names released by Social Security Administration.

The highest ranking baby names in Indiana — Emma, Olivia, Liam and Noah — reflected the national trend in 2014.

But old-school names are gaining in popularity, too.

Hazel, for example, made its top 100 debut in the Hoosier State. Last year's movie version of John Green's "The Fault in Our Stars" may have something to do with that.

Actress Shailene Woodley stars as Hazel in the film. The name didn't rank in 2013, but last year there were at least 73 baby Hazels.

More Indiana parents picked the name Leo last year. A possible nod to Leonardo da Vinci, which is about as retro as it gets.

More than 90 baby boys were dubbed Leo in 2014.

Out of the top 100 baby names in Indiana, here's how the most old-school, hipster and classic names ranked in 2014 with the 2013 rankings in parentheses. The categories on this list are not scientific, but are among the most popular on parenting blogs and websites.
