Greenfield police investigating death of 1-year-old girl

Greenfield police are investigating the death of a baby girl after she was rushed to the hospital Thursday morning unresponsive.

Police were called to a home in the 500 block of North Wood Street around 9:30 a.m. on a report of an unconscious child. When officers arrived on scene they found a 1-year-old girl unresponsive.

The child's parents had started CPR, and responding units took over until medics arrived. Once emergency medical crews marked on scene, the child was taken to Hancock Regional Hospital, where she later died.

An autopsy is tentatively scheduled for Friday. Greenfield police said the investigation into the child's death is ongoing.
