A car collided with a train on the Near Eastside on Saturday afternoon, causing minor injuries to the two people in the car.

The car was driving southbound on North Rural Street, near Massachusetts Avenue, when the two hit one another.

"We don't know if the train struck the vehicle or the vehicle struck the train," said Lt. Richard Riddle, a spokesman for the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

The driver of the car and an 8-year-old passenger both complained of neck pain and were taken to IU Health Methodist Hospital as a precaution, Riddle said.
