Indianapolis Metropolitan Police homicide detectives are investigating after a woman died Sunday night after she sustained severe head injuries, and lost significant amounts of blood, officials said.

Medics were called to an Eastside residence Sunday night, and found 49-year-old Bobbi Ratliffe dead, police said.

The Marion County Coroner's Office ruled the death a homicide, saying she died of blunt force injuries to the head, as well as blood loss.

Ratliffe died in a residence in the 40 block of Bankers Lane, between East Washington Street and East Pleasant Run Parkway, North Drive, around 9:45 p.m., police said.

Investigators initially could not determine how Ratliffe died, but considered the death suspicious, as she appeared to have traumatic injuries.
