Update:

Detectives identified the man killed as 39-year-old Jonathan Cooper of Indianapolis. They discovered narcotic items on the victim, leading them to believe that the shooting was not a random act. Police declined to clarify what the narcotic items were.

Police also responded to a call last night about two wounded individuals in the 1400 block of Hamilton Avenue. They found 40-year-old Armando Basillo and 32-year-old Alejandro Aranda suffering from gunshot wounds. The victims were transported in stable condition by EMS crews to Eskenazi Hospital for treatment.

Earlier:

In a span of less than two hours late Tuesday night, four men were shot, one fatally, across Indianapolis.

The first victim was discovered shortly after 10 p.m. in a home in the 600 block of North Tibbs Avenue on the city's Westside.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers arrived about 10:15 p.m. at the residence after a report of a body found inside the home.

Freddy Reyes, who lives on the same block of Tibbs, told The Indianapolis Star that he heard two gunshots about 20 minutes before police arrived at the scene.

Responding officers located "what appears to be an adult male" who'd suffered multiple gunshot wounds, said IMPD Officer Rafael Diaz.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Then, about 11:24 p.m., police were dispatched to the 1400 block of North Hamilton Avenue on a report of a person shot. According to IMPD dispatch operators, arriving officers found two men at the location who had both suffered gunshot wounds.

Emergency medical crews transported the victims to Eskenazi Hospital "awake and breathing," police said.

Ten minutes after the double shooting on the Near Eastside, IMPD officers were called to a scene a little less than a mile-and-a-half away, in the 300 block of North Temple Avenue, on a report of yet another person shot.

Officers found another victim who sustained at least one gunshot wound. The man, police said, was transported to IU Health Methodist Hospital, but was being uncooperative with medics, according to 911 dispatch operators.

Diaz said it's still too early to tell if the three shooting victims on the Eastside of the city are related.

"It will be something investigators will look into," he said. "But still too early to tell."

As of late Tuesday night, homicide investigators continued to canvass the scene on North Tibbs and interview witnesses. Meanwhile, aggravated assault detectives worked the Eastside scenes, collecting evidence and surveying the area.

None of the victims have been identified.
