A man sped down South Street in Lebanon and lost control of his car Friday morning. The car hit parked cars in a bakery lot, causing a chain-reaction crash that killed the driver and injured two senior citizens who were patronizing the bakery, police said.

Robert G. Cole, 21, Lebanon, was killed when his car crashed into parked cars at Titus Bakery at 820 W. South St., according to a press release from the Lebanon Police Department.

One of the parked cars struck a 76-year-old woman who was critically injured, but is now in stable condition, the release said.

Another car struck a 78-year-old man who was getting out of a vehicle at the bakery, police said. He suffered minor injuries.

The parked cars collided with the bakery building, which was evacuated, but the business reopened later that morning.

Investigators believe speed and alcohol contributed to the crash.
