Police are looking for the driver of a red SUV who mowed down a woman near an intersection on the city's Northeastside Thursday morning.

Tanya Turman, 41, was leaving her apartment to walk to the bus stop, police said, when the driver of an older model red Chevy Tahoe hit her near Bolton Avenue and Staughton Drive.

Investigators were able to pull surveillance video from a camera that captured the incident and have determined the truck was last seen turning westbound on Radnor Road from northbound Bolton Avenue, police said.

In a release issued by Indianapolis Metro Police, the vehicle is described as being a 1992-1999 Chevrolet Tahoe (or something similar, i.e. GMC Yukon or Chevy Suburban) with possibly gray trim in the lower half of the vehicle. The vehicle, police said, is expected to have minor to moderate damage to the front end.

After the hit-and-run, police said Turman was transported to Eskenazi Hospital in critical condition. She is now slowly recovering after extensive surgeries.
