A Hendricks County woman is facing neglect charges after her 2-year-old daughter was found alone in a vehicle on County Road 200 West.

Logan Wardle, 27, Danville, was arrested early Sunday by officials from the Hendricks County Sheriff's Office after her child was found by a passerby.

Deputies were initially notified of the missing 2-year-old around 3 a.m. Sunday, according to a news release. Wardle told investigators that she woke at her home and could not locate her daughter or her vehicle.

Wardle reported that the last she remembered was being at her family cabin in Clay County earlier in the evening.

A witness said Wardle stopped at his residence about 11 p.m. Saturday, stated that she was lost and asked for a ride home, police said. The witness drove Wardle home, but she never mentioned her missing child or vehicle.

After making it back home, Wardle notified her parents that her daughter was missing. That is when police in Hendricks and Clay counties were contacted.

The 2-year-old girl was found in Wardle's vehicle about 7:30 a.m. Sunday in the 4500 block of North County Road 200 West. The passerby who spotted the child contacted the authorities and stayed with the girl until the police arrived.

The Department of Child Services was contacted and the child has been temporarily placed with family members, police said. They child was not injured.

Wardle was detained on an outstanding warrant for theft in Boone County. Charges are being filed in Hendricks County for neglect of a dependent.
