Update:

Sgt. Tom Weger of Fishers Police Department said the suspicious object found in Whitten Park Tuesday was not incendiary nor explosive.

"It looked suspicious to the person who reported it, and they did exactly what the police department wants them to do," Weger said, "which is when you see something suspicious, call 911."

The park reopened Tuesday.

Two Hamilton County parks were closed Tuesday after bomblike items were found.

Officials from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office and the Indiana State Police were called to MacGregor Park, north of Westfield, shortly after 10 a.m. when two suspicious items were found by police and a park employee, police said.

Deputy Bryant Orem said X-rays determined that the items were “some type of incendiary devices” but inoperable. They were described as cans with wires attached and wrapped in tape, Orem said. Both were found along a trail in the northeast section of the park.

There were no suspects, Orem said.

The park reopened after members of the Indiana State Police bomb squad dealt with the items.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the county, Fishers Police Department investigators were looking into a similar suspicious package found at Whitten Park.

No direct link to the two incidents was known Tuesday afternoon.
