A man held a stolen vehicle suspect at gunpoint on Interstate 465 Friday afternoon while waiting for law enforcement to arrive.

Around 2 p.m., Pablo Rodriguez, 28, Indianapolis, spotted a man driving his uncle's car, which had been reported stolen Feb. 3, police said.

Rodriguez, police said, followed the car from 38th Street and Moeller Road onto northbound I-465, then crashed his car into the vehicle to stop the suspect from getting away.

After the crash, near mile marker 18.5, Rodriguez got out of his car and pointed a gun at the man driving his uncle's vehicle, police said.

The suspect was later identified as Andre Edwards, 21, Indianapolis. Police said Edwards has an outstanding warrant for armed and dangerous robbery in Marion County, and a second outstanding warrant from the state of Georgia for aggravated assault.

It is unclear, police said, if any shots were fired during the altercation. Both Rodriguez and Edwards were taken to Eskenazi Hospital to be checked out.

Indiana State Police is handling the investigation.
