A man was arrested after he fired shots into a crowd near Memorial Stadium at Indiana University in Bloomington over Little 500 weekend, Indiana State Police said.
A fight had broken out about 1 a.m. Saturday in a parking lot across from the stadium, and troopers approaching the scene heard five shots fired, according to police.
Troopers said they saw a man waving and pointing a gun toward a group of people. Police ordered him to drop the gun but said the man fired one more shot and ran, throwing his gun under a car.
Police arrested Lawrence S. Gomes, 27, Indianapolis, on charges including criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, pointing a loaded firearm and possession of cocaine.
