One of the country's largest waste management companies is setting up shop in Fishers, creating hundreds of job opportunities over the next 10 years.

Republic Services, the second-largest provider of services in nonhazardous waste, according to its website, is investing $13.6 million to lease, renovate and equip an office space at 10194 Crosspoint Blvd., along the I-69 corporate corridor in Fishers, the company announced Thursday.

The corporate office, expected to be operational by Sept. 1, will be a shared services center that will create up to 469 new jobs by 2025, the company said in a news release.

“With the creation of the Republic Services Customer Resource Centers (CRCs), we are taking an important step toward transforming our customer experience, and we believe Indiana is the right place to do just that,” said Joe Burkel, senior vice president of customer experience for Republic Services. “Placing our customers at the center of all we do is our top priority. The state-of-the-art Fishers CRC will bring advanced technologies and additional professional customer service jobs to the community and will allow Republic to focus on delivering consistent and superior service to our valued customers.”

Fishers Mayor Scott Fadness said the company's move to the city is exciting and "a testament to our commitment to bring good jobs to our community."

“By locating in Concourse at Crosspoint along I-69, Republic Services has chosen an easily accessible, top-tier office space that will help attract a talented workforce and spur future development in the area. It is a perfect fit for an industry leader like Republic Services, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome them to the community," he said.

The Indiana Economic Development Corp. offered the company up to $4.5 million in conditional tax credits based on the company's job creation plans, the release said. Republic Services isn't eligible until Hoosiers are hired.

“When industry leaders like Republic Services consider where to grow, Indiana is at the top of the list,” said Gov. Mike Pence. “Indiana’s national reputation as a leading state for doing business has helped the Hoosier state add more than 140,500 private-sector jobs in the last three years, with nearly 60 percent of those jobs paying above the state’s average wage. Today, I’m proud to welcome Republic Services’ expansion as it furthers this trend with plans to add hundreds of quality, middle-management jobs to the Indiana economy, leveraging our state’s affordable business climate and our dedicated, skilled Hoosier workforce.”
