It's one of those "Who saved whom?" situations. My husband found Snickers. Together, they found me.

Our Chow-German Shepherd mix is 9 years old, but she has yet to lose her spunk — and let's be honest, she is stellar in front the camera. When readers asked for a list of dog-friendly drinking spots, I knew Snickers had to test them first. So I grabbed my pup (and a lot of treats) and hit the streets. Here are her favorite stops.

For beer-drinkers

1. Flat 12 Bierwerks

414 Dorman St., (317) 635-2337, flat12.me

You know a place will accept your fluff ball when they have an hashtag for its canine visitors, #DogsofFlat12.

2. Indiana City Brewing

24 E. Shelby St., (317) 643-1103, indianacitybeer.com

I forgot my treats, but no fear, the cheddar goldfish did the trick. Snickers liked relaxing on the cool concrete floors.

3. Fountain Square Brewery

1301 Barth Ave., (317) 493-1410, fountainsquarebrewery.com

Snickers was immediately greeted by the friendly staff and head brewer Eileen Martin. I sat on the comfy, leather couch and worked while she laid at my feet.

4. Taxman Brewing

13 S. Baldwin St., Bargersville, (317) 458-0210, taxmanbrewing.com

The outdoor patio is plenty large enough for paw prints. Our server even brought Snickers a big bowl of water.

5. Union Brewing

622 N. Rangeline Road, Carmel, (317) 429-6345, unionbrewing.com

A walk on the Monon can quickly turn into kicking back with a beer at Union. Convenient, right?

6. Danny Boy Beer Works

12702 Meeting House Road, Carmel, (317) 669-8080, dannyboybeerworks.com

Garage doors open to the large outdoor space, where dogs are welcome.

7. Chilly Water

719 Virginia Ave. Suite 105, Fletcher Place, (317) 964-0518, chillywaterbrewing.com

The patio offers a nice break while walking the dog. Snickers liked watching her furry friends stroll by.

8. Scarlet Lane Brewing

7724 Depot St., McCordsville, (317) 336-1590, scarletlanebrew.com

Snickers could have sniffed her way there. The smell of BBQ made her tail wag, while I enjoyed some beer samples.

For wine, spirit drinkers

9. Mallow Run Winery

6964 W. Whiteland Road, Bargersville, (317) 422-1556, mallowrun.com

The patio, deck and lawn offer plenty of space for leashed dogs. You may even spy the winery's black lab Cooper. (Note: Dogs aren't allowed during ticketed concerts.)

10. Hotel Tango Whiskey

702 Virginia Ave., Fletcher Place, (317) 653-1806, hoteltangowhiskey.com

The distillery is dog-friendly, but co-owner Brian Willsey told me, "If the dog or the owner start biting, we're going to have to ask you to leave." Luckily, neither of us bite.
