Several veterans groups and the public responded to give a deceased veteran a dignified burial after no records of living family could be found.

Services for Billy C. Aldridge, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, were moved to Lawrence United Methodist Church. Brig. Gen. J. Stewart Goodwin, executive director of Indiana War Memorials delivered the eulogy. A burial followed at Memorial Park Cemetery. The service also included military honors provided by Indy Metropolitan Military Honor Guard.

Aldridge, 80, died Oct. 14. No one stepped forward to make funeral arrangements. Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services worked with veterans groups and others to give Aldridge a proper burial.
