Report: Ex-recruit JaQuan Lyle confirms Louisville escort scandal

Former Louisville basketball recruit JaQuan Lyle, in an interview with the NCAA this week, confirmed "the gist of allegations" against U of L in a new book, CBS Sports reported Thursday.

Lyle, now a freshman at Ohio State, "told the truth" during the interview, the report says, citing an unnamed source. Lyle is a former Indiana Junior All-Star, who played at Evansville Bosse High School.

The book, titled "Breaking Cardinal Rules: Basketball and the Escort Queen," is written by Katina Powell, a self-described escort who claims former U of L director of basketball operations Andre McGee paid her and other escorts, including her three teenage daughters, thousands of dollars and gave them game tickets in exchange for sex with players and recruits.

McGee, through his lawyer Scott C. Cox, has denied the allegations.

U of L hired former NCAA enforcement staffer Chuck Smrt to investigate Powell's claims, and the NCAA has also been looking into the book. Reports surfaced Friday that the NCAA also interviewed former U of L pledge Antonio Blakeney, who is a freshman at LSU.
