What to watch for

The Star attended the June 17 "Zip Code" tour date in Nashville, Tenn., and gathered 10 tips for making the most of your concert experience.

How this happened

This event is the first time in the track's 106-year history that the facility has hosted a concert on a date outside a race weekend.

Indianapolis Motor Speedway began its pursuit of a show last summer, when it partnered with concert company Global Live. To make a splash as a concert venue, the track compiled a wish list of acts including the Rolling Stones, Taylor Swift, U2, Bruce Springsteen and Garth Brooks.

"We started thinking, 'If we were to really do this, we have to do it in a big way,' " IMS President Doug Boles said.

Roll back the years

Before the Rolling Stones became "the world's greatest rock 'n' roll band," they were "scrawny, pasty-faced, mussed-up, dirty-looking creatures." That was the pronouncement, anyway, in the Fort Wayne News-Sentinel after the Stones played their first show in Indiana on Nov. 12, 1964. The band's Hoosier adventures also included a visit to a fixture of Mass Ave.

Signature songs

Based on previous shows of the "Zip Code" tour, it's all but guaranteed the band will play a dozen signature songs as part of its 19- to 20-song setlist: "Jumpin' Jack Flash," "It's Only Rock 'n' Roll (But I Like It)," "Tumbling Dice," "Honky Tonk Women," "Midnight Rambler," "Miss You," "Gimme Shelter," "Start Me Up," "Sympathy for the Devil," "Brown Sugar," "You Can't Always Get What You Want" and "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction."
