Four hundred pounds of marijuana, $100,000 in cash and three cars were seized by police early Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2015, after investigators were called to a building in the 9100 block of Pendleton Pike.

More than 400 pounds of marijuana, $100,000 in cash and three cars were seized early Wednesday in what Lawrence police are calling one of the largest drug busts in the city’s history.

Lawrence police and the Metro Drug Task Force began the operation shortly after 10 a.m. Wednesday when a resident called police to report people coming and going at a building on the 9100 block of Pendleton Pike, according to Capt. Gary Woodruff of the Lawrence Police Department.

The caller also told police that they could smell marijuana in the air.

Officers responded to the scene where they arrested David Miller, 31, Lawrence; Jamie Mueller, 30, Indianapolis; and Denyran Calvin, 33, Fort Wayne. Woodruff said the first officer on the scene noticed what he recognized as a large package of marijuana, and the Metro Drug Task Force was called in to respond.

A search warrant was issued, and investigators found the drugs and cash inside.

All three suspects were arrested on suspicion of dealing and possession of marijuana over 10 pounds, a Level 5 felony, Woodruff said. The Marion County Prosecutor's Office will make a final charging decision.

This is third large marijuana bust made by area police in as many months.

In July, Fishers Police seized 100 pounds of marijuana, $330,000 in cash and dozens of pills after a traffic stop in the area of East 96th Street and North by Northeast Boulevard.

Most of the drugs were found in a storage unit at Never Enough Storage at 10309 E. 56th St. in Indianapolis, court documents said. Two arrests were made in the case.

In June, a warehouse on the Southside of Indianapolis was raided, leading to the discovery of more than 400 large marijuana plants, 60 pounds of processed pot and 2 pounds of hash oil.

About $250,000 worth of marijuana was confiscated and four men were arrested. The FBI, Indiana State Police, the Drug Enforcement Agency and the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department worked together to take the operation apart.
