Police ID man shot by ex-girlfriend in Speedway

Speedway police identified the man fatally shot by his ex-girlfriend Wednesday morning as 34-year-old Anthony Santura Smith.

The woman killed Smith when he kicked down her apartment door about 4 a.m. Wednesday in the 5800 block of West 25th Street in Speedway, Lt. Trent Theobald said.

Smith was living in Indianapolis, but Theobald said he was new to the area and previously lived in Virginia.

Police have not released the name of the woman. Police said they don't think she will face charges

The woman's two young daughters were asleep at the time and were unharmed, police said.

Officers previously responded to that apartment for domestic incidents, Theobald said.
