Indianapolis Metropolitan Police detectives have made an arrest in the Jan. 31 slaying of a pizza delivery driver, officials said today.

Shawn Wilson, 27, is charged with murder, robbery and carrying a handgun without a license.

He is accused of fatally shooting Daniel Jaffke, 30, who was delivering a pizza to an apartment in the 4100 block of Continental Court. Jaffke was pronounced dead at Eskenazi Hospital after he was found lying in a parking lot.

Detectives tracked Wilson to a home in the 3200 block of Byrkit Street, where he initially refused to surrender, police said in a news release. After a short time, Wilson gave up.

Friends remembered Jaffke, a 2003 Whiteland High School graduate, as a dedicated musician who was a vocalist and guitarist in several local bands, including Two O’clock Twilight.

He worked for the Papa John’s store at 3915 S. Madison Avenue. The person who ordered the pizza reported the shooting and was not considered a suspect.
