Former Colts quarterback Peyton Manning is being honored.

Sports Illustrated announced Sunday night Manning won their Sportsman of the Year award. SI released a story by Lee Jenkins along with the announcement. Here's an excerpt.

"For two decades Peyton Manning has methodically elevated the standards of everybody from NFL quarterbacks to video-room interns to offspring named in his honor -- one film session, one spiral notebook, one dummy audible at a time."

Manning of course started for the Colts from his rookie season in 1998 until the two sides went their separate ways in 2011.

The former Colts quarterback signed with the Denver Broncos that off-season and has played exceptionally well. This year he's on pace to break the single-season record for touchdowns in a season.

Manning has 4,811 yards, 47 touchdowns and 10 interceptions with the Broncos this season.
